Ellen Jeter Walker

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Ellen is a graduate of John Marshall High (1968) and Marshall University (1999). She is the daughter of the late pharmacists Bayard & Elsie Dowdy Jeter and the sister of Betsy Burton.


As the wife of Pastor Don Walker for 45 years, she had tackled a number of church positions in the various churches in which her husband has served as pastor. Most of those years she taught Young Adult Bible study. Other positions throughout the years have included  WMU Director and Acteens leader, Sunday School Director, Vacation Bible School teacher and Director, youth ministries, recreation ministries including drama, clowning and puppetry, nursing home ministry, camp ground ministry, bell choirs, children's programing, and a host of other jobs as needed. She was Interim Choir Director of New Baptist Church in Huntington WV for 2016. She currently serves on the WV Baptist Music Task Force. She has taught a number of seminars in recent years and has a desire to help churches develop in their music, worship and discipleship ministries.


​In addition to church activities, she has sold Home Interiors, insurance and securities, and worked for Virginia Baptists and Maryland Baptists. She was a reporter for "The Martinsburg Journal", a part-time secretary for an attorney in Maryland, and filled a variety of temporary positions. She has been a free-lance writer for several publications, and currently is the Vice-president for Tri-State Publications in charge of operations and layout. She is former editor of WV Builder Magazine.


​Other interests have included local theatrical productions, primarily during her early years after high school at the Virginia Museum and once in Charles Town, WV. Her great love is singing for her Lord. She presented a Worship concert in March 2015 to launch the release of her book, An Audience of One, & sings and leads worship in a number of venues as requested. Her next concert is scheduled for July 29 to launch her newest book, The Secret War, and to open a series of new teaching and presentation opportunities.


​She is the mother of 2 children - DW and Joy -  and grandmother of 5 grandchildren - Jonah, Carly, Sarah Ellen, Liam and Riley Shea.


​In her spare time, Ellen is the Executive Officer of the Tri-State Home Builders Association in Huntington, WV. She has held that volunteer position for over 12 years. She is a Director on the state HBA Board of Directors & serves on their public relations committee. In the past she has served as the National Affiliate Director for the National Association of Home Builders.
